Sister Maryalice Boyce, RN, died peacefully on May 17, 2019 at Eagleridge Hospital, Coquitlam, BC. Born on January 15th, 1932 in Camp Creek, AB she was the daughter of the late James and Grace (Weikel) Boyce.

Sister Agnes Paula began her teaching ministry in Glace Bay then came to Halifax where she continued in teaching and administration at Saint Mary’s and Saint Stephen’s Schools. In 1968 she was missioned to Mount Saint Vincent University where she worked in Student Services and later joined the Faculty of Education Department. In addition to teaching, Sister was the Co-ordinator of Student Teaching. After retiring from MSVU she was appointed Director of Transportation at the Motherhouse.

A Sister of Charity for 67 years who was missioned in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and Richmond Hill, New York, locally: St. Joseph, Needham, St. Patrick, Lawrence, St. Patrick, Roxbury, Aquinas Junior College, Milton, Marillac and Elizabeth Seton Residences, Wellesley.

Sister Katherine entered the Sisters of Charity–Halifax on September 8, 1944 and made her First Profession on April 6, 1947.  She is an alumna of Mount Saint Vincent University.  Sister Katherine began her teaching ministry in Halifax; then went to B.C. where she continued her ministry in teaching and administration for schools in Vancouver, Kelowna and Burnaby. Sister was also involved beyond the classroom, supporting students and parents in a variety of programs and auxiliary groups.  After retiring from teaching, Sister continued with Pastoral Ministry at St. Mary’s Parish in Vancouver.

A Sister of Charity for 59 years who was missioned in Brooklyn, Bellmore, Bellerose, Point Lookout and Fresh Meadows, New York, locally in Marillac Residence, Mount Saint Vincent and Elizabeth Seton Residence Wellesley.

A Sister of Charity for 62 years who was missioned in Riverton, NJ; Brooklyn; Patchogue and Bellmore, New York; locally in Quincy, Dover, Needham and Wellesley.

Sister Ellen was active in many ministries teams and committees including, teaching summer school, pastoral work, choir, massage therapy, work with the Diocesan Team, vocations, social justice, and associates. In recent years, she was involved in Peace Quest Cape Breton, Charity Associates, Coal Town Chorus, Family Violence, Victims of Sexual Abuse and Trafficking, Global Concerns, Diocesan Vocational Committees, massage therapy and reki.

Sister Rita was a Sister of Charity for 81 years who was missioned in Westmont, NJ; Dartmouth, NS; Kimberley, BC; Renton, WA.; Brooklyn and Bellmore, NY, locally: St. Peter’s, Dorchester; St. Joseph’s, Needham; Marillac Residence and Elizabeth Seton Residence

Sister Rita taught school in Amherst, N.S.; Brooklyn, N.Y. and Glace Bay, N.S. Sister was also involved with Pastoral Ministries at Seaview Manor and Seton Centre in Glace Bay. Sister Rita was a gentle kind person who always had a positive outlook on life.
