Recently I have been made aware of the beauty of podcasts. This is what I’ve discovered so far.
As we are part way through a dark and stormy Halifax winter, I wanted to cheer up with some lighthearted snowy scenes from our audiovisual collection.
Sister Evangeline grew up in Enfield, NS and attended E.H Horne School. From 1955 to 1971 she was missioned at Saint Brigid’s Home in Quebec, Saint Joseph’s Orphanage in Halifax, Mount Saint Vincent Mother Berchman’s Residence in Halifax and Seton Academy in Vancouver. While missioned in BC she received her certificate as a kindergarten teacher and later studied human resource management in Halifax.
RYAN, Sister Frances, SC In her 70th year as a beloved member of the Sisters of Charity, Halifax, NS, "Sister Fran", passed peacefully into the heart of God on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln
Sister Barbara Joseph Walsh of Elizabeth Seton Residence, Wellesley Hills, MA, passed away December 8, 2021 at the age of 85. A Sister of Charity for 65 years, she was a devoted educator, missioned in Nova Scotia, Quebec, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Sister Madeline Mary Power (Rose Madeline) passed away November 27, 2021 at Caritas Residence, Halifax, N.S., at the age of 95. Born in Marystown, N.L., she was a daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Kilfoy) Power. For 36 years, Sister Madeline provided housekeeping and dietary services in the communities of Boston, New York, British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec and Nova Scotia. A large part of her vocation was dedicated to Pastoral Ministries in various hospitals and homes for the aged.
Sister Carol Downing (Mary Teresita) passed away November 25, 2021, at St. Barnabas Convent, Bellmore, NY, at the age of 96. The wake will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m., at Clair Bartholomew & Son Funeral Home, 302 Bedford Avenue, Bellmore, NY. Please contact the funeral home for more details. A Funeral Mass be follow on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 11:15 a.m., at The Church of St. Barnabas, 408 Bedford Avenue, Bellmore, NY. Interment immediately following the Mass at St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village, NY. Full obituary to follow. May she rest in peace.
