Greenan, Sister Ann Joan (Mary Hilda), 84, died in Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, NS on October 13, 2017. Born in Newton, Prince Edward Island, 1933, she was a daughter of James and Florence (O’Connor) Greenan. She entered the Sisters of Charity- Halifax in 1951 and made her perpetual profession on August 15, 1960. She graduated from Mount Saint Vincent University with a B.Sc. in Elementary Education. Sister Ann Joan served 57 years in religious life, spending the greater part teaching children in Bermuda, New York and in Stellarton and North Sydney, Nova Scotia. She loved children and continued her ministry volunteering as a teacher tutor, and in religious education. She was Religious Director at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish and Assistant Director of Hospitality at MSVM. Sister Ann Joan is survived by her sisters Joan Greenan and Noreen Anderson, her nephew Derek Anderson and wife Tanya and their children Dylan and Cassie. She is predeceased by her parents. The body will be in Caritas Residence on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, with visitation from 3pm until the Prayer Service at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 19, in the Immaculate Conception Chapel in Caritas Residence. Burial will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of Charity Ministry Fund.
