Proctor, Sister Patricia (Patrick Alexander) SC, died peacefully at the Halifax Infirmary Hospital, Halifax, NS on December 24, 2024 at the age of 91. Born in Glace Bay NS she was the daughter of the late Lester Proctor and Mary (Gallager). She entered the Sisters of Charity in 1952 and made her first profession in 1955.

Sister Patricia graduated with a B.SC. in Elementary Education from Mount St. Vincent University.

She was first missioned in 1955 to teach in Boston, then moved on to teach in North Sydney, Reserve, New Waterford and Glace Bay. Sister taught school for 37 years. In 1983 she received her certificate in Religious Education for the University College of Cape Breton. Sister Pat did parish work, visiting homes and working on church committees helping when and where she was needed. She always encouraged people to do their best.

Sister Patricia retired from teaching in 1992 and was invited to go to the Motherhouse in Halifax to work in hospital ministry care which was a joy as she always had an interest in nursing and became the Coordinator of Assisted Living. After the Motherhouse closed, Sister Patricia volunteered at Parkstone to minister to elderly Sisters for over 10 years. She was extremely good to seniors.

Sister Patricia loved her family, friends and relatives, she was a true Sister of Charity and a true Cape Bretoner who loved people, accepted everyone and made everyone feel welcome. Sister Patricia was a woman of deep faith who lived a life of serving and caring for others. She was kind, hospitable, honest and had great compassion for others.

In addition to her parents, Sister Patricia is predeceased by her brothers Archie, Patrick, Bernard and her sister Carol Ann (Griffin). She is survived by nieces and nephews and their children.

All services will be held at the Immaculate Conception Chapel, Caritas Residence, 215 Seton Road, Halifax. A Prayer service to welcome Sister Patricia’s body home will be held on Monday, December 30th at 2pm followed by visitation until 4:00pm and a Vigil Monday evening at 6:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 31st at 10:00am. The Funeral Mass will be a private service for Sisters, family and Associates. Burial will take place in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, NS at a later date (TBC).
