McCOLGAN, Sister Grace SC Sister Maria Robert, beloved Sister of Charity, Halifax for 67 years, entered peacefully into eternal life, on April 5, 2023, at Elizabeth Seton Residence, Wellesley, MA. Devoted daughter of the late Robert P. and Grace (McDermott) McColgan; she is predeceased by her brothers, James J. McColgan, John F. McColgan, Robert P. McColgan, and Edward H. McColgan; her sister, Mary Lenane; and her nieces, Carol Donovan, Mary Beth Lenane and Grace Lenane. She leaves her nephews, David Lenane, Kevin, Robert, Stephen, Edward, Keith, James and John McColgan; nieces, Marianne, Flo and Christine; as well as several grandnieces and nephews; and her sisters in the congregation. The focus of Sister Grace’s ministry was teaching at both grammar and high school levels. She was missioned in several locations throughout the Archdiocese of Boston during her time in ministry, beginning at Saint Patrick School in Lawrence, MA and then Saint Michael School in North Andover, MA. She also taught in the parish religious education programs of both of these parishes. Sister Grace then served as a business course teacher at Monsignor Ryan Memorial High School in Dorchester, MA for thirty years, until it closed in 2003. In her last formal assignment, Sister Grace served as an administrative assistant at Elizabeth Seton Academy in Dorchester, MA before retiring to Marian Community at Mount Saint Vincent and subsequently to Marillac Residence at Mount Saint Vincent, Wellesley, MA. Funeral Services for Sister Grace will take place on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Mount Saint Vincent, 125 Oakland Street, Wellesley, MA, at 9:30 am, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Saint Mary Cemetery, Needham, MA, immediately following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Sister Margaret White may be made to the Sisters of Charity Retirement Center, 125 Oakland Street, Wellesley, MA 02481.
