Friday, June 23rd was a bittersweet day for all those who knew, loved and supported the ministry of WAITT House, Inc. in Roxbury, MA.
As we celebrated the graduation of 11 persevering adults (from seven different countries) we were also quite mindful that this day also marked the closure of WAITT House, Inc. as an Adult Literacy Center. A wonderfully proud 38 year history of reaching out and empowering adult learners was ending due to insufficient funding.
Although deeply saddened with the closing of WAITT House, words of tremendous gratitude were expressed for the Sisters of Charity’s constant presence in the life and mission of WAITT House both financially and in kind.
WAITT House has often been described as “a small place filled with love and offering hope” … “A love and learning space for all no matter your color, your language or your ability”!
