Sister Theresa Gertrude Burbridge (Mary Paula), 98 passed away in Ottawa, ON on February 24, 2023. She was one of five children of the late Harry Joseph Burbridge and Elizabeth Frances (Foley) of Bathurst, New Brunswick. Born February 19, 1925, Theresa entered the Sisters of Charity at Mount Saint Vincent, Halifax in 1945. She entered from her family’s parish in Bathurst, Sacred Heart, and shared life with the Sisters for over 77 years. She earned a BSc in Home Economics  from Mount Saint Vincent University and spent her ministry in food sciences as a registered dietitian across Canada including Immaculata Hospital, Westlock, AB, the Halifax Infirmary, NS, and St. Elizabeth Hospital, Sydney, NS.  She taught home economics at the Mount Carmel Convent, New Waterford, NS, and at Saint Patrick Convent, Quebec, PQ. In her later years, she gave joyful witness to love serving in prayer ministry, as a companion and healthcare volunteer at Perley Hospital and Élisabeth Bruyère Pavilion, Ottawa. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, with a special thank you to her nephew, Peter Gormley, niece-in-law, Astrid Dilabio, and niece Sheila Burbridge. In addition, to her parents, she is predeceased by brothers, Byron and Kenneth Burbridge, and sisters, Margaret Anne Gormley and Paula B. Aitken. A funeral service will held at Caritas Residence, Halifax, NS at a later date and interment to follow in Bathurst, NB.
